Kathmandu Valley alone contains about 500 species of birds, The most popular birdwatching spots in kathmandu are Phulchoki, Godavari, Nagarjun, Bagmati River and Taudaha.

Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve
Koshi Tappu wildlife reserve offers 280 species of birds which include 20 species of ducks, 2 species of ibises, many storks, egrets, herons and the endangered swamp patriadge and Bengal florican.
Beautiful looking water of Koshi river creating floodplains and wetlands invites many species of bird from far off places. Birds from as far as Syberia migrate to this region during winter.

Chitwan National Park Birdwatching

Bardiya National Park Birdwatching
Situated

The Karnali and Babai rivers attract a large number of wintering waterfowl along with resident species such as herons, kingfishers and wall creepers.

Shivapuri Watershed Birdwatching
Shivapuri, situated near the source of holy river Bagmati, at an altitude shivapuri-watershed-birdwatchingof 2563m north of Kathmandu is second highest hill around Kathmandu valley. This is a Government protected forest where over 500 species of birds are found. Home to about 177 species of birds, it is a renowned sight for bird enthusiasts with blue magpies, kalij pheasants, Bonelli's eagles, and great Himalayan barbets.
