Flying to Nepal
Peak Season:
Nepal being a mountainous country has a wide range of temperatures depending upon the altitudes. The things that you can do in Nepal is determined by the time of the year you are visiting Nepal. The best times to visit Nepal are Late fall (Late September - November), when year the air is sparkling clean, visibility is unexcelled and the Himalayan views are as near perfect as you can ask, and early spring (February - March) , when temperatures range between 24-28 degrees Celsius and there is little rain.
Some of the many festivals during September to November are Dashain, Tihar, Indra Jatra,etc and those during February-march are Maha Shivaratri, Losar, Fagu Purnima, etc. One of the most festivals of Nepal is Dashain. This festival serves as a memorial of the god’s victory over the demons ; homes are decorated, families get together and gifts are given. Followed by Dashain comes Tihar ‘The festival of Lights’. In this festival Hindus worship the goddess of wealth – Laxhmi . This festival lasts for five days.
Off Season :
Between November and March, temperatures at night can be close to freezing and heavy snows can block mountain passes. Conditions during May and June can be unpleasant – hot, humid and very wet.
Entry requirements :
A valid passport is required by all visitors to Nepal for the duration of their stay, in addition visas are required for all non-Indian or Nepalese nationals.
Passport/Visa :
A tourist entry visa can be obtained in advance from the Embassy of Nepal or you can purchase one at the airport in Kathmandu when you arrive. The fee is £20 for 15 days, or £35 for 30 days.
Nepali climate :
Depending upon the altitude, nepal has various types of climates. In summer the tempreture ranges from 19 to 27 degrees whereas it ranges from 2 to 20 degrees with occasional rain in winter.
